  Alyssa McCarty was diagnosed with leukemia last year.
Since then, she has been putting up a courageous battle against this horrific disease.Alyssa is currently undergoing chemotherapy as well as radiation treatment. She will be receiving a bone marrow transplant in the beginning of May. Her big sister, Lauren, will be the donor. These are critical months for Alyssa and she needs your prayers and support. Alyssa is 14 years old and attends Great Hills Christian Middle School and her and her family are members of Shoreline Christian Center. At her last check up in Temple, Dr. Frankel told her she has done in 7 months what most people do in 3 years. She left the isolation area of the hospital 2 weeks early and she left the semi-isolation area of the Ronald McDonald House 4 weeks early! Alyssa will continue to work on: • Consuming enough calories from a special diet. • Taking her medication at the proper times of the day. • Finding some niche to put her energies toward. • Building up strength as her physical body is still very weak. • Growing her hair back, it's finally coming in. • Return to being a normal child, so much has been taken in the last year.
