![]() ![]() WHAT: It's The Hawaii 5K Run & Fun Walk! But you don't have to "run" to participate... this is a fun family event, so don your best Hawaiian Garb and run, jog, walk or stroll the TIKI-lit trail by SUNSET! Food, drinks, and entertainment will be held LUAU style on the grassy banks of the Shoreline Christian Center during and after the race. Prizes will be given out to runners and walkers in a variety of categories! WHEN: Saturday, July 21, 2001 starting at 7:30 pm. (This is an evening race!) WHERE: Starting line is at the front of Shoreline Christian Center (15201 Burnet Rd.) in North Austin and proceeds around the Wells Branch hike and bike trail. See Race Course & Directions. WHO: Benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the McCarty Leukemia 5k Run Fund. This year's beneficiary is Alyssa McCarty, a 14-year old Austin girl fighting leukemia. HOW: Click Here to Register. ------------------------------------------------- The Nitty-Gritty • The event is a mass start, so for safety of all participants, slower runners and walkers are asked to start at the back. • Inline skaters, scooters, skateboarders, and pets are not allowed on the course. • Water will be provided at the start/finish line and at stops on the course. • There will be medical aid and toilet facilities at the event. |
