This year's beneficiary is Alyssa McCarty, a 14-year old Austin girl currently in a courageous battle against leukemia. Alyssa's family and friends have partnered with the Jerry Colwell Ministries, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Shoreline Christian Center and RunTex of Austin to develop The Hawaii 5K Run & Fun Walk as a way to raise funds to fight the battle against leukemia. This year's event will feature a sunset run and walk on a tiki-lit trail in North Austin. The event will culminate with live music, food and entertainment. The Hawaii 5K promises to not only be a successful fundraiser, but also a fun, family event that will be a unique occasion to celebrate life. The goal of this inaugural event is to raise more than $20,000. Sponsors, volunteers and race participants are needed to make this event a success. Sponsorship levels ranging from a $125 Lanai sponsorship to a $2000 Maui sponsorship are needed to ensure that all proceeds will benefit the fight against leukemia.
